Abstract
Follows the persecution and assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as performed by the inmates of the asylum of Charenton under the direction of the Marquis de Sade. “…to get proper gasps of pains and excitement, each actor has a helium supply to give the right pitched squeal…we even float kiddies’ wading pools into the audience by inflating them with the helium.” – a play within a play. Director’s Note: The images and themes of this play are contemporary. Reversed anachronisms flow across the stage, opening the boundaries of possibility to an illogical dreamscape.
