Abstract
The Musical Our House follows the life of sixteen-year-old, Joe Casey through a dual lens.
On his sixteenth birthday in an attempt to impress Sarah, the girl of his dreams, Joe breaks into the roof of a restricted building site to give her a glimpse of his neighbourhood below. What starts off as a gesture with innocent intentions quickly turns sour when the police arrive at the scene and Joe is faced with two choices: to run or not to run?
From this point on, the musical splits in two and we follow the lives of both Good Joe, who stays to help Sarah, and Bad Joe, who leaves her behind.
With music and lyrics by the quintessentially British Band Madness, and book by Tim Firth, Our House is a witty, fast paced musical that explores Joe’s two choices, and the outcomes they produce. Firth effectively blurs the lines of what is right, wrong and just with exceptional comedic flare and a dynamic set of supporting characters.
With well known 80s hits such as It Must Be Love, Our House and Wings of a Dove, the show promises its audience an upbeat musical packed to the brim with humour, charm and energy.
