Abstract
A fading Southern belle, Blanche clings to her values of Southern decorum, whilst her pretentious claims to culture and virtue thinly mask her alcoholism and delusions of grandeur. She mysteriously arrives at the home of her estranged sister, Stella, where conflict soon arises between Blanche and Stella's husband Stanley. The mystery of her appearance soon unravels as the relationships between the characters are tested. This production focuses on the gritty sexuality that permeates the play, and the contradictory nature of female desire, particularly in the relationship between Stella and Blanche and their desire for Stanley in spite of his violence.
