Notes
Heading reads – “The Australian Performing Group presents The Old Tote Production of ‘The Tempest'”. * Director’s name is elsewhere spelt Rex Cramphorne, I suspect Cramthorne is correct -researchers note The APG and the Old Tote arranged for this production to be brought from Sydney, after successful seasons at Jane Street and the Parade Theatre. The cast is largely the now famous group from NIDA, that did the first production of The Legend of King O’Malley.

Reviews
Tim Robertson: “‘The Tempest’ is the best Australian Bard I have seen. It is not an airy fairy coterie production…The production lives dangerously so it can dissolve at moments or teeter into a trippy-camp airlock, but it could also be a shaping event in many people’s lives. Geoffry Hutton: “Experimental has become a diry word in theatre, but Rex Crampthorne’s direction of this unique play… is as daring and effective as a commando raid… It is an odd marraige of the classical theatre with the sub-culture which produces ‘Hair’ and, against all the rules, it works.
